Supreme Al Green Tee Black (22SS)
The Supreme Al Green Tee Black was released as part of Supreme's Spring/Summer 2022 Week 1 collection, bringing the unmistakable image of American soul legend and gospel singer Al Green into Supreme’s graphic T-shirt archive. The release continued a long-standing tradition of Supreme paying homage to highly influential musical icons, connecting the New York streetwear label with a recording artist celebrated for his deeply emotional music and timeless vocal legacy.
Presented on a Black cotton base, the tee features a full-colour archival photograph print of Al Green mid-performance across the front. The portrait is beautifully detailed with a reproduction of his handwritten script signature alongside the evocative phrase "Love Happens" gracing the lower border of the graphic. The rich, vibrant hues of the throwback photograph stand out sharply against the restrained black background, keeping the musical maestro as the primary focus.
Constructed from 100% all-cotton, the Al Green Tee follows Supreme’s classic T-shirt format with a shape-retaining ribbed crew neckline, short sleeves, and an easy everyday silhouette. The premium construction provides a clean canvas for the high-fidelity photo graphic while making the piece versatile enough to wear independently or underneath outerwear. The Black colourway creates strong contrast against the printed graphic and gives the tribute a particularly clean presentation.
Released on 17 February 2022, the Al Green Tee became one of the key pieces from Supreme’s SS22 debut week. Its appeal extends beyond traditional streetwear collecting through Green's profound legacy across soul, R&B, and gospel music culture. Combining a striking archival print, a memorable "Love Happens" design, and Supreme’s established graphic-tee format, the Black edition remains a distinctive piece from the brand’s musical icon tribute archive.
